Friendship Group is a social activity group for young adults. The group meets monthly, for a social outing on a Friday evening or during the weekend. Days and times vary to ensure that participants have the opportunity to attend. The Program Coordinator organises the monthly activity, which is supported by our professional Support Workers, with the aim to also include Interchange Central Gippsland volunteers. Participants are encouraged and supported to be independent by choosing the activities, ordering their own meals and paying for their own activities. The cost of activities varies, with an aim to arrange activities that are affordable. An invitation to the monthly group is posted or emailed to participants with details of the activity, what to bring, pick-up/drop-off times and the cost involved. It is the responsibility of the participant to advise us if they wish to attend the activity, before the RSVP date on the invitation. All participants need to have a level of independence to join the group. The groups aim is to encourage independent participation in age appropriate social activities, have fun, and provide an opportunity to socialise with other young adults with a disability. If a participant needs additional support or assistance on a particular activity, to ensure they can get involved, please contact our Program Coordinator to discuss this prior to the event.
